gd_saudi_short_address is an address enhancement plugin built for Saudi Arabia shipping scenarios.

When a customer's shipping country is Saudi Arabia, the plugin automatically requires the Saudi National Address Short Code and stores it throughout the order flow. This helps merchants meet local shipping requirements, reduce delivery failures caused by incomplete address information, and lower the amount of manual customer service follow-up.

The plugin is designed specifically for Saudi address rules and does not rely on a fixed country ID. It first identifies Saudi Arabia by the country code SA, and if that is not available, it falls back to the country name Saudi Arabia. This makes the plugin more stable even if country data has been deleted, recreated, or re-imported in the admin panel.

During checkout, when the selected country is Saudi Arabia, the plugin automatically shows the short address field. It validates the data on the backend when saving addresses and again when submitting orders. The short address is then written into the order snapshot so it can be displayed consistently in the storefront order detail page, checkout success page, and admin order detail page.

How It Works

When the system detects that the selected country is Saudi Arabia, the plugin automatically enables the short address rule.

If the customer saves a member address, the short address is saved together with the address record. If the customer checks out as a guest, the short address is validated and stored during the checkout process. After the order is created, the short address is also written into the order snapshot so that future address edits will not affect historical order data.

Compatibility Notes
